Habonim Dror
Habonim Dror describes itself as a ‘ Socialist Zionist Culturally Jewish youth movement’. Founded in 1929 in order to give Jewish youth a strong appreciation of Jewish and Zionist values it has been dedicated to the provision of Jewish education for over 75 years.
Historically, those at the forefront of Habonim has contributed significantly to the Labour Zionist movement by establishing kibbutzim around Israel.
Habonim Dror played an important role in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising during the Second World War and many of its members and leaders died fighting in it.
Today, Habonim has both a strong presence in the UK and the world in general with members in over twenty countries.
The aim of inspiring and educating young Jewish people is at the heart of the activities it organises and which include:
- Summer and winter camps which are designed to be both fun and educational for 10-16 year olds
- Trips to Israel for post GCSE students
- Weekends away around the country
- Friday night sleepovers for Years 5-10
- Sunday meetings
