AJ6: The Association of Jewish Sixth-formers
AJ6 (which stands for The Association of Jewish Sixth-formers) is actually not exclusively a sixth form organisation. Instead it is a Jewish youth organisation which is open to fifth as well as to sixth formers.
The Association of Jewish Sixth-formers is committed to ‘Arevut’. This means that it is open and accepting of all Jews regardless of their level of observance, background or stream (Orthodox, Reform or Liberal).
It is a national organisation which has both regional meetings and national events including its popular Israel and Europe tours. AJ6 also runs a number of social events throughout the year including:
- A Spring Ball
- A Boat Ball
- A Fresher Ball
It also runs:
- Three National Weekends a year
- A 'Spiritual Shabbat'
- A Summer Social
- A 5-day Conference in December.
AJ6 aims to educate, inspire and develop Jewish youth to help them shape Jewish life both at school and university as well as within the wider community.
Although the organisation does have a team of full time workers and a board of trustees, it is effectively a peer led organisation.
