Music really creates a great atmosphere and having the right band will help your simcha get off with a bang!
The tips below will help you choose the perfect band or DJ to ensure that your guests’ feet are still tapping long after the party is over.
- Remember, popular bands and DJs get booked up very quickly so you should start your research as soon as possible.
- Ask friends and family for recommendations. If you have been to a party recently and really liked the music, ask the host who they used.
- Once you have got a list of names, contact the different bands you are interested in and ask for demo tapes. You could also ask them when and where they are next performing and see if you could go along and listen to them.
- Once you have decided on a band or DJ, let the venue you have booked know who you are planning to use in case there are any restrictions that you need to be aware of.
- Ask the band or DJ what their requirements are; do they need a certain number of plugs and will they supply their own lighting, for instance?
- Let your band or DJ know if there are any songs that you would particularly like them to play and if they have any suggestions of what normally gets people moving!
- Find out exactly how long the band will play for before having a break and how long their breaks will be.
- Make sure that you provide the band or DJ with clear directions so that they arrive at the right place and on time!
